Aleksey Muratov: Financial system of Ukraine has once again demonstrated its unreliability

Ukrainian "Platinum Bank" was declared insolvent. As Chairman of the Board of the International Public Movement Change the World Together Aleksey Muratov states, Board of the National Bank of Ukraine issued a statement this week in which PJSC "Platinum Bank" was introduced to the category of insolvent.

"In accordance with the requirements of Art. 76 of the Law of Ukraine "On banks and banking activity" on January 10, 2017, Board of the National Bank of Ukraine adopted a decision №14-psh / BT "On regarding of PJSC" Platinum Bank" to the category of insolvent," it is said in an official statement, while it is specified that "as on January 1, 2017, the bank has not reached the positive value of capital".

Also in the statement of the National Bank it is said that 97% (197 000 people) of all depositors of PJSC "Platinum Bank" will get their deposits in full, because their amount does not exceed the ensured $200 thousand UAH by Guarantee Fund of deposits of individuals. However, at this time either temporary terms of deposits return, nor mechanism of this process, are not specified in the statement.

According to Aleksey Muratov, this fact indicates that the financial system of Ukraine is extremely unreliable and unable to guarantee the security of deposits to its customers today. "It should be noted that the "Platinum Bank" is one of the largest financial institutions in Ukraine, taking the 22nd place to the end of 2016 in terms of assets (7.277 billion UAH) among 100 acted in the country. This once again says about the unreliability of the banking system and the lack of deposits security guarantees from the state regulator. Thus, the population has one alternative to save their assets - their investment to cryptocurrency," Chairman of the Board of CWT emphasized.

"An interesting fact is that in December 2016, the management of "Platinum Bank" issued a recommendation to its clients to take care when investing in e-currency, referring to the fact that it is simply "fashionable, but a risky topic”. As we can see, in fact, the population risks now more leaving their money in banks under the guarantee of state regulator" Aleksey Muratov resumed.
