Aleksey Muratov: Where “Bitcoin continent” will be firstly?

The International Public Movement Change the World Together expands its borders in India. According to Chairman of the Board of CWT Aleksey Muratov, new offices were opened in Kashmir and Bihar states last week.

According to Aleksey Muratov, the number of CWT supporters in India has increased by few hundred after the opening of new offices. ʺDharambir Maan, an authoritative leader of CWT, was the curator and the main speaker at the opening. During constitutional conferences, our supporters got acquainted with the website and the ideology of the International Movement as well as attended a training seminar,ʺ Chairman of the Board of CWT pointed out.

In addition to expanding activities, CWT closely follows world cryptocurrency trends. In particular, Aleksey Muratov, noted that authorities of many European countries had been increasingly contributing to the development of electronic money recently. This is evidenced by the recent report made by the Prime Minister of Malta Joseph Muscat during CEPS Ideas Lab in Brussels. ʺInstead of making an official report with a previously prepared speech, which, according to him, “would be deadly boring”, Joseph Muscat spoke on behalf of a “European man, who was tired from the fact that we continued to run in circles and a man, who wanted to provoke others to discussʺ. According to eyewitnesses, the proposals of the Prime Minister of Malta aimed at introducing innovation and implementing economic transformations were bold and sometimes risky,ʺ Aleksey Muratov said.

One of the most notable ideas was the transformation of Europe into a “Bitcoin-continent”. ʺThe main thesis of the European policy was that Europe should soon become a place where Bitcoin would be an integral part of everyday life, and the state regulators should contribute to this, creating all the necessary mechanisms for the prosperity of cryptocurrency. "The development of cryptocurrency can be slowed, but impossible to stop", - it was the main message statement of Joseph Muscat,ʺ Chairman of the Board of CWT said.

In the view of Aleksey Muratov, there is a lot of truth in the words of the Malta's Premier, because certain financial institutions are taking into account the fact now that the system underlying such transactions is more effective and transparent than the traditional financial mechanisms. ʺIt should be noted that Muscat’s proposals are already beginning to be partially implemented. For example, the European Commission reported on the launch of a new initiative to support start-ups of innovative technology in November 2016. This initiative will consolidate existing opportunities and give the start-ups new perspectives in tax matters, insolvency law and venture investment,ʺ Aleksey Muratov said.

At the same time, he believes that the measures are not enough for Europe to pretend to a title of "Bitcoin-continent". ʺOf course, Europe is still far from a title of "Bitcoin-continent". But progress is being made in many other regions where fintech start-ups are now widely distributed, including those that work with the blockchain technology, there is some support for the authorities. Such countries include India or Japan, where state mechanisms, which regulate cryptocurrency, increase their capacity and protect consumers, already have a noticeable impact on the financial situation not only of startup but also of states as a whole,ʺ Aleksey Muratov summed up.
